Ken qualified as a shipwright in 1970 and is recognised professionally as a Master Boatbuilder with qualifications in Fibreglass Reinforced Plastic and an Associate Diploma in Applied Design (Wood). He studied at The Australian Maritime College and achieved a Coxswain Grade 1 Certificate of Competency. Ken owns and operates a vessel construction, repair and restoration facility in Launceston, north Tasmania specialising in modern and traditional techniques. He is a Full Member of The Australian Institute of Marine Surveyors (AIMS), an AMSA Accredited Marine Surveyor of Domestic Commercial vessels and an AMSA appointed Marine Safety Inspector. Formerly Ken worked for Marine & Safety Tasmania (MAST) from 2006 checking vessel compliance under National Law. His passion is the sea.
